48V track lighting explained for UK projects
Light Division is the official UK partner for Modular Lighting Instruments. This explainer covers 48V magnetic track lighting for UK projects, focusing on Modular Pista Track 48V and the Gamin sphere for designers who need flexible general and accent light on one slender rail.

What 48V magnetic track lighting is
48V track lighting uses a low-voltage (48V DC) track to feed multiple luminaires from one profile. It is an architectural system, not the same thing as older 12V "low voltage track" kits or a traditional mains track run.
Magnetic track lighting holds luminaires on the rail magnetically so modules can be added, slid or swapped after install without reworking the ceiling. Modular Pista materials describe fixtures that attach magnetically and can be moved by sliding along the profile. Always re-check the live EU product story for the wording that matches your article.
Traditional mains track runs luminaires at mains voltage on a different ecosystem of adapters. Older 12V kits belong to another product world entirely; do not treat them as interchangeable with Modular 48V track.
Why lighting designers specify 48V track
Designers specify 48V track when they want one system for spots, linear light, pendants and decorative modules. Layouts can change without cutting new ceiling works for every move.
A slender architectural profile suits residential, hospitality, retail, gallery and workplace schemes, which are applications listed on Modular's Pista story. Electrical design, cable routes and controls remain the project's responsibility; this guide does not claim that 48V is automatically safer or code-compliant in every context.
Modular Pista Track 48V
Pista Track 48V is Modular's slender magnetic LED track for wall and ceiling. It mixes general and accent light: spots, pendant lighting, uplight, Night Light and linear modules on one rail. See the Modular Pista story and configurator family.
Mounting families include Surface (including High Surface), Recessed, Recessed Trimless and Suspended. Curved connections at 90° and 135° are available for surface-mounted or suspended runs per the product story.
Finishes referenced across Modular materials include black structure, white structure, brushed anodised champagne and brushed anodised bronze. Treat that list as indicative and re-confirm on the live configurator before calling it exhaustive.
A recessed trimless profile family exists for flush ceiling detailing. The track alone is not a complete product; modules, power feed and drivers are required. See the recessed trimless SF article.
Circuit power limits and driver part numbers should come from the EU or UK datasheet for the article you specify. Do not paste figures from other market PDFs into a UK specification without checking.
Gamin on Pista: soft diffuse light on the track
Gamin is a compact spherical glass luminaire for soft, diffuse general light on Pista. It works on Pista Track 48V Surface, Recessed and Suspended. See the Gamin product story and Gamin Track 48V family.
Warm-dim technology can move from a brighter daytime feel to a warmer evening mood. Input is 48V DC for indoor use; checked articles include IP20 examples. Modular states that Gamin cannot be used in the upper part of a Pista Track 48V Profile Suspended Up/Down. Confirm the article before specifying that profile.
Adapter note from Modular: white Pista 48V luminaires use a white track adapter; all other Pista 48V luminaires use a black track adapter unless requested otherwise. For installations without a dimmer, Modular recommends 1–10V luminaires on the Gamin family pages.
A Gamin Jack variant exists for Modupoint trimless or surface compositions. Placebo and Shellby share a similar glass-sphere language if you want a coherent decorative set; keep those as a light mention rather than a second catalogue dump.
Choosing modules: accent, linear and decorative
Use a short checklist when building a Pista run: accent spots for highlight, linear modules for general light, pendants where you need dropped light, Night Light for low-level cues, and Gamin for diffuse decorative general light.
Point to the supermodular.com Pista configurator for the live module list rather than locking a specification to an incomplete SKU table. Where ambient recessed downlights are a better answer than track, start from the Minude product story or other product stories.
UK specification, power and controls
Pista and Gamin are made to order. Light Division does not hold UK stock. Lead times are confirmed per order and are approximate.
Drivers and power feeds must match the profile and the dimming protocol of each module (for example DALI or 1–10V where the article supports it). Do not invent driver part numbers; ask Light Division or take them from the Modular pages for the codes you intend to use.
Controls integration is project-specific. Do not assume universal wireless compatibility for Pista modules unless a specific datasheet says so.

Frequently asked questions
What is 48V track lighting?
A 48V architectural track uses a low-voltage track to power multiple luminaires from one profile. Modular Pista Track 48V lets designers combine spots, pendants, linear light and modules such as Gamin on a slender magnetic rail.
What is magnetic track lighting?
Magnetic track systems hold luminaires on the rail magnetically so modules can be added, moved or swapped without reworking the ceiling. Pista is Modular's 48V magnetic LED track for wall and ceiling.
Who supplies Modular Pista in the UK?
Light Division is the official UK partner for Modular Lighting Instruments. Email modular@supermodular.uk or call 020 8068 6832 for samples, pricing and files.
What is Gamin?
Gamin is a spherical diffuse luminaire for Pista Track 48V, for soft general light and warm-dim atmosphere on Surface, Recessed or Suspended tracks.
Can Gamin sit on every Pista profile?
It works on Surface, Recessed and Suspended. Modular states it cannot be used in the upper part of a Suspended Up/Down profile. Confirm the article before specifying.
Can I get free samples?
Yes. Email modular@supermodular.uk or call 020 8068 6832. Samples are free of charge and illustrative; see terms.
Do you hold UK stock?
No. Pista and Gamin are made to order with the manufacturer. Lead times are confirmed per order.
Is there a London showroom?
No. Meet by appointment at the E2 9DT office meeting room only.
