Adjustable Modular spotlights for UK projects
Light Division is the official UK partner for Modular Lighting Instruments. This product story compares five Modular accent families for UK retail, gallery, hospitality and high-end residential work: Kogel, Semih, Mini Multiple, Passage and Smart.

Kogel — ball-joint freedom
Kogel, designed by Studio Kees, is a surface-mounted accent family with a visible brass ball joint. Modular describes 360° movement without an ordered sequence of axes.
Kogel Track 48V sits on Pista. For system logic, mounting and Gamin companions, see Pista Track 48V rather than repeating the full track explainer here.
The story mentions multiple colour temperatures and dimming types, including warm dim and smart lighting possibilities. Confirm the exact CCT and dimming codes on the live articles; do not invent a matrix.
Semih — twist-and-tilt cylinder
Semih is an adjustable cylindrical ceiling spotlight in two sizes, 86 and 61. Size 61 also fits Modular's 230V track per the product story.
Magnetic ceiling panel install, magnetic reflectors and on-board gear for 230V renovation wiring are part of the story. Exact twist and tilt degrees should be taken from the live product pages for the article you specify, not from older secondary notes.
Mini Multiple — gimbal and Smart rings
Mini Multiple is a gimballed accent family. Modular states three beam angles on the product story. CCT language on the story includes 2700K, 3000K and 3500K; confirm those remain current on the article you order.
It is compatible with Smart front rings such as Cake, Kup and Lotis, so a scheme can share the wider Smart accent language without treating Mini Multiple as a full Smart catalogue dump.
Passage — flat-hinge architectural spot
Passage, designed by Seppe van Heusden, uses a flat hinge silhouette. Modular engineering copy describes a hinge about 5 mm thick; treat that as Modular's own figure and re-check at publish if you need it in a specification note.
Mountings include Passage Jack for Modupoint with a remote driver, semi-recessed, Passage track 48V on Pista, and wall mount. Multiple beams, CCTs and dimming options exist; take the matrix from the live pages. Aluminium, cast matt and tumbled finishes are referenced; confirm the list for your article. For 48V runs, start from Pista Track 48V.
Smart — mix-and-match accent platform
Smart is Modular's mix-and-match accent platform. Core recessed shapes include Smart Kup, Lotis, Cake and Lotis Asy, combinable with Smart Box, Tube, Ball and masks across many mountings and colours.
Brushed colour stories and warm dim for projects without remote drivers are part of the Modular language. Do not call Smart Kup, Lotis or Cake trimless plaster-in fittings unless the live article for that code says so. Recessed Smart shapes remain accent tools; plaster-in ceiling questions belong with verified trimless families such as Minude Recessed Trimless, not with an unverified Smart claim.
Across all five families the mounting choice usually decides the shortlist before the optic does. Surface ball-joint spots, magnetic renovation cylinders, gimbals with rings, flat-hinge Jack or track spots, and the Smart mosaic each solve a different install and maintenance story. Start from how the ceiling or track is built, then pick the family that aims the way the merchandise or artwork needs.
Light Division can help shortlist codes and arrange free samples once the mounting and control approach are clear. Lead times stay made-to-order; there is no UK stock promise.
Specifier checklist
Maximum aim freedom and a statement mechanism: Kogel.
Compact retail or hospitality cylinder: Semih.
Classic gimbal with ring options: Mini Multiple.
Pure hinge silhouette, Modupoint or Pista: Passage.
Mosaic of Modular accent shapes: Smart.
Recessed ambient companions such as Minude remain useful when accent alone is not enough.
