What Qbini and Qbini Frame are
Qbini Frame is designed by Florent Coirier. It pairs miniature cube spots with frames that hold one, two, three or four Qbini lights. Modular also describes a broader set of Qbini designs on the product story; treat that as a family overview and confirm the live configurator for the codes you intend to use.
Frames come with a visible trim edge or as recessed trimless (sans trim) for plaster-in ceilings. Multiple frames can sit together. Modular describes linking trimless units at 90° or 180° with no visible edges between them.
A patented press-in / press-out detail is part of the story: push once to the first position, again to recess deeper, and a third push to remove, with an audible click. Always follow the install guidance for the exact article.
The frame and the spotlights are specified together. Modular is clear that the frame is not a complete product on its own, so a UK order needs the matching Qbini heads, driver approach and any rings or accessories called up on the article. That keeps the miniature scale intentional rather than treating Qbini as a generic plaster pot.
Qbini Box is a surface box with an asymmetrical design that adds volume on the ceiling or wall plane when a recessed frame is not the right answer.
Trim, trimless and UK ceilings
Trim frames show a deliberate edge. Trimless frames finish flush for plaster-in ceilings. For a fuller specifier note on plaster-in detailing across Modular recessed families, see the Minude product story and other product stories while the dedicated trimless guide is still in draft.
On UK ceilings the choice between trim and trimless is usually about sequencing as much as aesthetics. Trimless needs wet-trade coordination; trim can be faster on many refurb ceilings and can still look architectural when the edge is part of the design. Either way, cut-outs and depths come from the live Modular files for the code you order, not from memory or a screenshot.
Products are made to order. Confirm cut-out and mounting depth with Modular files or Light Division before ordering. Light Division supplies luminaires; it does not install or certify ceilings.
Where UK designers use Qbini
Qbini suits residential, hospitality, boutique retail and corridors where small multi-head patterns read cleaner than a single large downlight. It sits in the same Modular ecosystem as families such as Minude; treat those as companions rather than a second product review here.
For magnetic track layouts instead of recessed cubes, see Pista Track 48V.
